October 3, 2022 (NEW YORK) – Inter-communal violence in Sudan’s Blue Nile State has resulted into 359 fatalities, 469 injuries and over 97,000 displaced, a top U.N official said. Alice Wairimu Nderitu, the Special Adviser on the Prevention of Genocide said the clashes, which has flared up several times since July, also destroyed several properties. The clashes between ethnic communities, which renewed in September and October, reportedly rooted in long standing issues over land ownership and ethnic representation.
