Otego, N.Y.: So, you want to stop Sen. Joe Manchin’s pipeline. For more than a decade, I worked with others to try to block pipelines and stop new gas power plants from being built. We succeeded in banning fracking in New York, but not in Pennsylvania, where New York now imports lots of fracked gas from. We stopped a couple of pipelines but others were constructed or expanded. Sometimes, we likened our efforts to “Whac-A-Mole.” No sooner had one project been defeated than another was proposed.
