A vegetation fire along Low Gap Road Tuesday afternoon burned a modular building at the Mendocino County Administration Center, the Ukiah Valley Fire Authority reported. UVFA Battalion Chief Justin Buckingham said the blaze was first reported around 6:40 p.m. July 6 as an extinguished vegetation fire near one of the buildings in the campus at the corner of Low Gap Road and North Bush Street. “A man driving by on Low Gap Road saw the fire and stopped, and knocked on the door of the nearby building,” said Buckingham, explaining that the witness and the employee then used fire extinguishers on the flames. “And they thought they had put it out, but they still called it in to have us come out.” A
