Afghan women who lost their husbands have been hired to stitch military uniforms, as a means to provide for their families.Dozens of women widowed by the Afghan war have been given a lifeline by the army, stitching military uniforms indistinguishable from the ones their husbands died in. Around 120 women are employed by the defence ministry to make uniforms for servicemen and prisoners at a factory in Kabul. Many are widows, but all are related to someone who was serving in the military and either died or was invalided out.
