ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Genesee Park Boulevard Seventh-day Adventist Church held its final community day of the year, offering coats and other essentials as temperatures stayed cold.
The church opened its doors for its annual drive, providing home weather items, hot breakfasts and pantry services to those in need. Organizers said they wanted the community to know the church is a safe place for anyone facing hardship.
“It is extremely important because we want to make sure that people understand that as a church and as a food pantry that we are a resource for the community. We want to make sure that if someone’s in need, that they know that this is a place that’s a safe place that will hopefully provide what they need,” said Sherrita Hope, pantry coordinator.
The church said it operates its pantry twice a week throughout the year.
