Stephen King Addresses His Own Death on ‘The View’: ‘I’m Not as Young as I Used to Be’ ...Saudi Arabia

News by : (Parade) -

Stephen King turned his appearance on The View into an unplanned talk about death- his, to be exact. The Carrie author opened up about the inevitable reality, but “hopefully not too soon.”

The acclaimed author has no plans ot stop writing some of horror’s greatest novels, as he appeared on the talk show to promote his new book, Other Worlds Than These. Co-host Joy Behar was curious to know how many hours King spends a day writing.

“How many hours a day do you write?” Behar asked, while King revealed it was “usually three.” The author admits that it’s necessary in order to produce the best and latest material for his work, and he’s “got to keep it fresh.”

Per the segment schedule, Behar was ready to cut to a commercial break and ready to thank King for his appearance on The View. King had other plans when he interrupted Behar’s commercial break introduction to talk about his own death.

The interruption and King’s comment were a continuation of the topic of how he keeps his mind sharp at the age of 79. The IT author turned the conversation on his one-day death and it being inevitable.

“Also, you know, the other thing is…” he said while Behar spoke during the outro. “I’m not as young as I used to be. I know that I look young, but I’m really not.”

“And so, God will shut me up eventually, but, hopefully not too soon,” he added.

King is certainly one author that fans are not ready to let go of any time soon, and Behar wholeheartedly agreed, arguing back, “Don’t even say that!” His influence and importance also weren’t lost on co-host Anna Navarro, who told King that his “books are eternal” and will live on well beyond his final day.

“I don’t know about that,” replied a bashful King. “That’s kind to say.”

King was recently spotted this week on a rare outing, using a cane for support while walking the streets of New York. There haven’t been any recent reports concerning King’s health, as he starts promotion for his new book that was released on Oct. 6.

Other Worlds Than These is the final installment of the fantasy trilogy that King co-authored with the late Peter Straub. The story brings back a much older Jack Sawyer as he “returns to face a rampaging gang of infected teenagers from America-side and the mysterious forces of the Gullet at the edge of Mid-World.”

It was also reported that King has been working on another book featuring the detective Holly Gibney, following his previous novel, Never Flinch.
