Famed interior designer Joanna Gaines has been married to her husband, Chip Gaines, for 23 years. However, Joanna recently revealed there’s still one thing she doesn’t know about her husband.
During an appearance on the November 5 episode of Kylie Kelce’s podcast, Not Gonna Lie, Joanna noted that she and Chip began to date in 2001. According to Joanna, Chip had taken an interest in her after seeing her in a commercial for her father’s tire shop. Joanna said Chip visited the store to make her acquaintance and asked her out on a date.
However, Chip was quite late for their first date, leaving her waiting for over an hour at her sister’s apartment.
“He was like almost an hour and a half late,” said Joanna.
She said that while she was frustrated by his tardiness, she genuinely liked Chip and continued to wait for him.
Joanna then shared that she still doesn’t know why Chip was late to their first date.
“It’s a mystery. He won’t tell me,” said Joanna.
She clarified that she does know Chip took some time picking her up as he was dealing with a past relationship.
“It’s like the one thing I don’t know about Chip, but to his point, when he came he was like so disheveled and like frustrated and upset. So he was working through some stuff with somebody,” said the Fixer Upper star, who shares five children with Chip.

On May 31, Joanna took to her Instagram to celebrate her 23rd wedding anniversary with Chip. featured several pictures of the couple throughout their 25-year relationship, including photos taken at their wedding.
