It all began for Katey Sagal on Married… with Children, which aired on FOX from 1987-1997, and now the actress who breathed life into Peg Bundy and the FOX network, will be returning to FOX for a recurring role in the doctor dramedy Best Medicine, which stars Josh Charles as Dr. Martin Best.
As reported by Variety, Sagal will recur as Kathleen Gavin, described as “Louisa’s (Abigail Spencer) estranged mother and the only person in the world who’s not welcome in Port Wenn. Combative, conniving, and always looking out for herself, Kathleen unexpectedly returns to town after a long absence, sending Louisa’s life into chaos. Martin quickly discovers there’s a reason why the people of Port Wenn refer to her as ‘Shady Katie.’”

Best Medicine is based on the critically acclaimed and beloved global hit Doc Martin. The series follows Martin Best, a brilliant surgeon who abruptly leaves his illustrious career in Boston to become the general practitioner in a quaint East Coast fishing village where he spent summers as a child. Unfortunately, Martin’s blunt and borderline rude bedside manner rubs the quirky, needy locals the wrong way, including schoolteacher Louisa Gavin. He quickly alienates the town, even though he’s all they have.
