ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Election Day has arrived. It’s your last chance to cast your ballot in the race for Congress, New York governor, and other key state and local races. Already, nearly 55 million Americans have cast their ballots through early voting or by mail, including over 95,000 in Monroe County.
Polls open at 6 a.m. across New York State and close at 9 p.m. Unlike the Primary, you don’t need to be registered with a political party to vote, but you must be registered as a voter. Here’s what else to know on Tuesday:
Finding your polling location
Unlike early voting, you must vote at your designated polling location on Election Day. In New York State, you can find your polling location and confirm that you’re registered to vote here. Keep in mind that polling locations may change from the previous year.
Absentee voting
Tuesday, Nov. 3 is also the deadline to postmark an absentee ballot or to deliver it in person at your county’s board of elections. The deadline to apply for an absentee ballot has already passed. All postmarked ballots must be received no later than Nov. 10.
Rides to the polls
The Rochester Votes Coalition is offering free rides to the polls on Election Day. If you need a ride, you can call (585) 371-8083. If you’re interested in volunteering, send an email to MCRidesToPolls@gmail.com.
In addition, Veo scooters is offering free credit to help people in Rochester get to the polls on Election Day. On Tuesday, riders can enter the promo code VOTE-26 in their in-app Veo wallet to claim $10 in free credit, which covers about two rides. For more information, click here.
