For Disney cruisers, scoring an adult-exclusive reservation at Palo is often the crown jewel of an entire sailing. Whether you’re sailing aboard classic ships like the Disney Wonder and Disney Magic or exploring Wish-class favorites, the venue’s sweeping ocean vistas, handmade pastas, and world-famous warm chocolate soufflé make it the ultimate romantic sanctuary away from the hustle of the main family decks. But if you have an upcoming cruise on the calendar, the way you dine—and pay—at this signature venue just received a significant shake-up.
Disney Cruise Line is officially phasing out its popular four-course prix-fixe dinner menu across all Palo, Palo Steakhouse, and Palo Trattoria locations, shifting the evening dining room entirely to an à la carte ordering model.
The transition rolled out fleetwide in late October, kicking off aboard the Disney Wonder before expanding across the Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy, Disney Wish, Disney Magic, Disney Treasure, Disney Destiny, and Disney Adventure.

View this post on Instagram“This is one of our favorite dining experiences on Disney Cruise Line as it is currently, but this news is not necessarily a negative thing for guests that prefer more flexibility,” notes Lindsay Brookshier of popular Disney vacation planning blog, Mickey Visit.
Under the previous dinner setup, guests paid a flat $55 fee for a multi-course Italian meal that included antipasti, fresh salads, gourmet entrees, and dessert. Shifting to an à la carte model creates a bit of a mixed bag depending on your dining style.
For travelers who prefer a lighter evening—perhaps ordering a single handmade pasta and a dessert—the check could actually come out lower than before. “For guests who just want to order a pasta dish and dessert for dinner, it could make the Palo experience cheaper by moving to the à la carte menu,” writes Brookshier. On the flip side, guests looking to recreate the traditional four-course feast with prime steaks and seafood will likely see their final bill climb past $100 per person before drinks and gratuity.

Analyzing the numbers, Brookshier breaks down just how wide that price gap can be: “In many ways, this can be seen as a price increase if you want to replicate the same four-course experience for higher-end menu items, which could top out at $106 per person, or $125.08 with 18% gratuity. For guests selecting lower-end menu items, to replicate that four-course experience, the price could fall to $39 per person, or $46.02 with 18% gratuity.”
She adds a caveat for prospective diners: “Keep in mind this math is based on the most recent pricing for the à la carte menu, which could change when the new policy goes into effect.”The menu overhaul also comes with a notable adjustment for Disney’s most loyal frequent floaters. Platinum and Pearl Castaway Club members will still receive their complimentary $55 per-person dining credit, but Disney is now strictly enforcing that the perk applies exclusively toward à la carte dinner selections. While the perk was technically designed for dinner, many longtime cruisers routinely applied their credit toward Palo’s legendary sea-day brunch. In a recent notice to eligible members, Disney Cruise Line clarified the policy directly: “This exclusive benefit is limited to dinner only. As a reminder, brunch is not included in this offer.”
The silver lining for daytime diners is that Palo’s beloved all-you-care-to-enjoy brunch remains completely untouched. The daytime spread—famous for its chilled seafood, artisanal pastries, made-to-order Mickey waffles, and complimentary glass of bubbly—keeps its standard $55 flat-rate format. For anyone currently holding a brunch booking who was counting on using their loyalty perk, checking your reservations in the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app ahead of embarkation will ensure you allocate your credits exactly where you want them.
