Lainey Wilson Led a Special Toast at the CMA Nominee Dinner—a Night Marking the End of an Era ...Saudi Arabia

Lainey Wilson had a special message for her fellow country music stars at a recent gathering ahead of the CMA Awards, and the evening marked the end of an era for one longtime Country Music Association leader.

The reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year, 34, joined fellow nominees at the association’s annual celebratory dinner on Oct. 19 at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. The event brought together performers and music-industry professionals ahead of the 60th Annual CMA Awards, scheduled for Nov. 18.

But the evening was about more than the upcoming ceremony. It was also the final nominee dinner that CMA CEO Sarah Trahern would host before her retirement.

According to the CMA, Trahern welcomed the guests and invited Wilson to lead a special toast to the group.

“When I moved here 15 and a half years ago, I moved from the village of Baskin, which is my town in northeast Louisiana, and I really didn’t know what to expect,” Wilson said during her remarks.

“When I got here, I realized pretty quickly that’s exactly what this community is.”

She went on to describe Nashville’s country music community as a place where people help one another pursue their ambitions.

“They say it takes a village to raise a child,” Wilson said.

“I think it takes a village to raise a dream, and y’all do that every single day.”

Trahern also reflected on the importance of recognizing the people behind the music, including the artists, songwriters, producers, engineers and other professionals whose work helps bring country songs to life.

“This is one of my favorite nights every year because we get to recognize everyone in the business who made great music this past year,” she said.

The gathering included Wilson, members of Old Dominion, Lady A’s Dave Haywood, Thelma & James, Emily Ann Roberts, Charlie Worsham and fiddler Jenee Fleenor, along with other members of the country music industry.

The dinner offered a preview of the community celebration leading into this year’s CMA Awards, which mark the association’s 60th anniversary.

The ceremony will air live from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on November 18 on ABC and Disney+, with the broadcast available on Hulu the following day.
