Jenna Dewan is ready to reunite with her Dancing with the Stars partner, pro Val Chmerkovskiy, on Tuesday night.
Chatting with Ryan Seacrest‘s radio show ahead of the ballroom dance competition’s Horror Movie Night, The Rookie star was asked how she felt about being back with her original partner after dancing with pro Alan Bersten following Chmerkovskiy’s suspension last week.
“Val is an incredible dancer. He’s been an incredible partner, and we really had built weeks of a good rapport, and so we kind of stepped right back into it, and we’ve been focusing on the dance,” she said.
Chmerkovskiy’s absence followed his harsh social media reaction to judge Carrie Ann Inaba’s criticism of his wife and pro Jenna Johnson‘s performance two weeks ago.
“You almost saw Fresh Prince enter the ballroom last night,” Chmerkovskiy wrote in a TikTok comment, referencing actor Will Smith’s famous onstage altercation with comedian Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars.
The seasoned pro then issued a lengthy apology to Inaba following the news of his suspension.
“In a moment where my instinct was to defend my wife, I made a poor decision to reference a meme to ‘keep my wife’s name’ out of the conversation, without stopping to think through what else that reference could imply, which was genuinely never my intention,” he wrote on his Instagram story. “Carrie Ann certainly didn’t deserve to get caught in the middle of my bad judgment, and I hate that she was. The last thing I want is to become a distraction from an important week or from the incredible work my dance partner Jenna Dewan is putting in.”

Bersten stepped in for Chmerkovskiy and danced with Dewan for the show’s Dedication Night. The two scored her first 10 of the season, which notably came from Inaba herself.
This week, Dewan and Chmerkovskiy are back dancing together as they prepare for their Argentine Tango. They’ll be dancing a remake of Alanis Morissette’s song “Uninvited.”
“I’ve wanted to Argentine Tango for years after watching the show,” she said. “It looks so hard, which, by the way, it is so hard. But I’ve wanted to do it so bad, and I’ve been really excited for this moment.” ?
