Brothers has let us see Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson‘s relationship in a brand-new light. Granted, the new Apple TV series is a completely fictional depiction of the two close friends, as the two families end up living under the same roof, only to find out there’s a chance they may actually be related. And the excitement of the mere prospect of having your best friend be your half-brother has Harrelson feeling jazzed. And, in an exclusive sneak peek of this week’s episode, we see that ecstasy culminate in a bout of insomnia — especially in the wake of an incredibly exciting day for McConaughey.

Matthew McConaughey & Woody Harrelson ‘Brothers’ Sneak Peek (1:03)Since the beginning of the series, one of the largest recurring storylines has been the Oscar winner’s bid for Texas governor. As fictionalized as this plot is, it does have some surprising roots in reality. Rumors of him making a bid for office have been circulating since 2020. In 2024, he fueled the fires when, at the National Governors Association’s Summer Meeting in Salt Lake City, he said that he is on a “learning tour” to find out more about the job proper. And, while McConaughey has affirmed recently he has no intention of running anytime soon. But that isn’t stopping his fictional counterpart. Throughout the first six episodes, we’ve seen the trials and tribulations of an actor trying to be taken seriously as a legitimate politician. And, as we’re approaching the penutlimate episode of the show, an important interview is coming that could make or break the race. And Harrelson, for one, can’t wait. The clip starts with McCounaughey rolling over in bed, only to find himself nose-to-nose with the Hunger Games actor. As he and his wife Valentina (Natalie Martinez) gasp awake in surprise, Harrelson explains himself.“I couldn’t sleep. I’m so excited about tomorrow,” he says. “I brought you some low-glycemic micro bubble champagne.”McConaughey isn’t particularly bubbly about partaking in the bubbly, replying that he needs to get his rest. That doesn’t stop Harrelson from continuing to word vomit about his anticipation for what could come.Related: Matthew McConaughey Told Me His Dream Family Life in 2002—10 Years Later, It Looked Surprisingly Familiar“Dude, it is not every day that your best friend announces on national television that he is running for governor,” he states. “And even though I do believe that the government should be run by a council of women elders, and I will not vote until every animal has a right to vote. I am here for you. Whatever you need, I’m your man. So f—king proud of you!”McConaughey puts on that all-too-friendly smile to the passionate remarks, high-fiving his friend. Valentina, however, is not as amused.“Woody, that was incredibly sweet, but we’re exhausted,” she says.“Val, I’m sorry I didn’t know you were awake. Would you like some champers?” he offers. She takes off her blindfold, revealing a look that is far from eager to partake in a late-night toast. Her glare finally gives Harrelson the hint he needs to make his departure. “You know what? I’m getting the vibe that you guys want to go back to sleep,” he declares. “I’m gonna bid you good night, Mr. Governor. Good night, Mrs. Governor.” While he does offer to watch them sleep, the McConaugheys politely decline. And, with a chipper utterance of, “God, look at you guys,” he finally takes off.Considering what’s still up in the air in the last two episodes of Brothers, namely McCoughanhey’s bid for governor and the possibility that he and Harrelson can be half-brothers, we’re feelng just as excited! The good news is you can also wake up at the crack of dawn to check out the next episode of Brothers, airing tomorrow, Oct. 28 on Apple TV. Celebratory champagne optional.
