Joy Behar isn’t going anywhere and has returned to The View following a weeks-long recovery from a shoulder injury. Recent reports claimed that producers were looking to fire the star following the incident.
A recent report claimed that the producers of The View were looking to give the panel of co-hosts a shake-up that involved giving the show a more youthful edge to appeal to a broader audience. In the hot seat was Behar following her recent shoulder injury after “catching a heel” backstage.
Behar’s fellow co-hosts reported that Behar would be stepping away from The View until she’s fully healed, and she’s missed broadcasting since the start of October. The report also added that there was a growing concern for the 84-year-old’s health and the possibility of her being fired from the talk show.
According to Entertainment Weekly, a rep for The View confirmed that “there is no truth” to the recent rumors of Behar being considered to exit the talk show for a panel shake-up. Producer Brian Teta also revealed on Monday’s “Behind the Table” podcast that Behar would return to the show for the first time on Tuesday, Oct. 27.
“Joy is back,” Teta said in the episode’s closing moments. “We’ve missed her. We’ll see you tomorrow!”

— The View (@TheView) October 27, 2026The official X page for the talk show also posted about Behar’s return to the live segment, with fellow co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Sunny Hostin, and Sara Haines all showing their support. They’ve also spoken openly about missing Behar during their Hot Topics table.
At the time of her injury, Goldberg was the one to address Behar’s recovery as she missed her own birthday segment earlier this month.
“She says, ‘Thanks to everyone who inquired about my recovery. If I was still 21, I’d have bounced back the next day,’” Goldberg noted at the time. “‘But, since I’m an old bat, recuperating takes a bit longer. I plan to be back next week to fill everyone in on all the gory details.’”
Behar holds the record for being the longest-running co-host on The View since its inception, when she joined in 1997 alongside Barbara Walters. In her run on the talk show, she missed only two seasons when she was temporarily fired from 2013 to 2015.
