A chance encounter between Amy Duggar King and her cousin Jana Duggar wasn’t exactly a happy family reunion.
Amy, 40, recently revealed that she unexpectedly crossed paths with Jana, 36, at a store after more than a decade apart. But rather than catching up, the estranged relatives exchanged a few polite words before going their separate ways.
During an appearance on Carrie Berk’s Fire Chats: The Mindfire Pod, released Monday, October 26, Amy explained that she initially didn’t recognize her cousin. “I saw Jana just the other day, and I didn’t know it was her,” Amy recalled.

Amy said she wished she had encouraged Jana to speak up about the family’s ongoing controversies, adding that she believes some relatives have been conditioned to maintain appearances regardless of what’s happening behind closed doors.
