While Jessica Biel‘s son, Silas Timberlake, made a cameo in her latest film, Matchbox: The Movie on Apple TV, the actress recently shut down any nepotism talk.
Discussing Silas’ role in the new movie, which was released earlier this month, the actress was asked whether she’s discussed fame with her kids and debunked any thought that her 11-year-old and youngest, Phineas, 6, whom she shares with singer Justin Timberlake, would get help from their famous parents’ names.“We’re not starting that,” she said while chatting on Josh Smith’s Great Chat Show. “We’re not starting like, ‘Oh, you just get handed a bunch of opportunities because you’re part of this family.'”

“It was not a big speaking part because the other thing I was talking to Silas about is, ‘You know, there are kids who work really hard, and they go to acting class, and they’re in theater class, and they’re doing all the work,” she recalled telling her 11-year-old. “‘You can’t just take a part from that person just because you’re my son. Like, that’s not cool. We’re not doing that.'”
“It’s really teeny tiny,” she added of Silas’ role in the film, which also stars John Cena. “If [he] had a big monologue, I wouldn’t let him do it. You would have to earn that part.”

While Biel and Justin tend to keep their 11-year-old and 6-year-old out of the spotlight, the Summer Catch icon felt comfortable including Silas in this project because Jules Daly, who produced it, is someone she trusts “implicitly.”
“If it was not cool or if it was going to be weird, then she would protect me and protect him,” Biel said.
However, Biel also told E! News that Silas may have an eye for performing — both in acting and music. Beyond chatting about his small role in the film, she said he may have inherited his dad’s skills because “he’s a DJ, so he’s kind of interested in both lanes.” ?
