Donald Trump didn’t hold back in criticizing Bill Maher and HBO, calling the talk show host a “complete, total loser” in his longest-ever post on social media.
The scathing post came days after Maher had spoken about his recent White House dinner with the President on HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher, having defended his decision to go while of course continuing to ridicule Trump.
According to Factba.se, Trump used 1,322 words to attack the comedian and the network on Truth Social after listening to the host’s account of their meeting that took place on October 15. Trump referred to Maher as a “coward” and a “major POTHEAD,” which makes it abundantly clear that the exchange hadn’t gone the way Trump wanted.
Moreover, he slammed HBO for putting a liar like Maher on its platform and noted how the network has lost its quality.
He wrote, “He’s got a Low Rated Show on equally Low Rated HBO, which was once, long ago, a Network of Quality and Excitement — But that’s all gone…”

Consequently, the US President gave a different account of their meeting in his Truth Social post. He took issue with the four hour figure, stating the dinner was “two hours maybe less”. He also said in the end he thought the meeting had been a waste of time.
“It didn’t last four hours, it lasted two hours, maybe less, and everybody was happy. We have the timestamps. I learned nothing, and felt it was a waste of time,” Trump noted.
Trump also claimed that Maher looked nervous and drunk during the visit, saying that the comedian had a drink in his hand as he was walking through the White House. On the other hand, the president criticized the ratings of Real Time with Bill Maher and claimed that a ‘laugh track’ was making the jokes on the show seem funnier than they actually were.
He stated, “Turn your Laugh Machine off, it’s a joke when they laugh uncontrollably, even when you say nothing funny, and I’m going to have the Republicans not cover you anymore, because they try to talk about you as a guy who is transformative. You’re not transformative, you’re a Loser!”
Trump finished off his message by telling Maher “Bill, don’t call anymore”. He also stated he’d never watch the show again, calling it “FAKE NEWS”.
Maher has not yet responded to the post.
