The Chicago area over the past few weeks has seen beautiful blue skies, mild conditions and warm October days.
Will the weather stay that way for Halloween?
Here’s an early look at the holiday forecast and the weather changes to expect this week.
Monday
Temperatures Monday morning started out chilly but mild, NBC 5 Storm Team meteorologist Iisha Scott said, with readings in the 40s and 50s.
Winds out shifting out of the north will bring a widespread temperature range as the day goes on, Scott said. To the north, temperatures will be in the upper 50s to right around 60. To the south, temperatures will be close to 70, Scott said.
Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
Temperatures will climb Tuesday, Scott said, reaching into the mid-to-upper 60s. Rain chances also go up Tuesday, with isolated showers or sprinkles possible at times.
Wednesday and Thursday, temperatures were expected to remain dry and in the low 70s.
Friday
Rain chances return Friday, Scott said, especially for the second half of the day and into the evening. Temperatures Friday will remain mild, with highs in the upper 60s.
Saturday: Halloween
An early look at the Halloween forecast showed mild temperatures, but chances for rain.
During the daytime hours, temperatures will be in the 60s, Scott said, with a high of 68 degrees.
“That’s really good for this time of year, because you know we could really get anything,” Scott said.
According to the National Weather Service, the normal high for Oct. 31 in the Chicago area was 56 degrees.
As of Monday, the chance for a couple rain showers was also in the Halloween forecast, but that could change, Scott said.
“Don’t be surprised if the kids catch a couple of rain drops on Halloween,” Scott said. “But again, that could change too. We’re still several days out. But it does look mild.”
