Crimson Tide golf closes fall schedule at Fallen Oak Collegiate ...Middle East

News by : (The Crimson White) -

Alabama Men’s golf fall campaign came to an end on Monday at the Fallen Oak Invitational in Mississippi. Alabama was No. 4 in the country heading into this week and finished the tournament placing ninth out of 15 teams.

This was a loaded tournament with 11 of the teams being ranked in the top 50, including five in the top 15.

As a team, the Crimson Tide came in at 21-over par and finished with the second-most birdies in the tournament with 47.

Head coach Jay Seawell was disappointed with the result this week, being the last fall tournament for his squad, but knows they will learn from it.

“It was a disappointing weekend. All the things that we did well in the last tournament, we did the exact opposite this week. It’s unfortunate that it’s our last tournament of the fall, so we have to sit on it, but we’ll learn from it,” Seawell said.

The major bright spot for Alabama in this tournament was junior William Jennings, who finished tied for 11th on the player leaderboard at 1-over par. Jennings moved up nine spots on the final day of play, carding a one-under-par 71 and was the only UA golfer to shoot under par on Monday.

It has been a very impressive 2026 for Jennings as he finished runner-up at the NCAA championships last spring and reached the round of 16 in the US Amateur.

Junior Miles Eubanks helped steady the course for Alabama as well, pouring in a tie for 15th finish at 3 over par.

Rounding out the starting five, junior Nick Gross tied for 36th at 7-over par. Freshman Bailey Sutter moved up six spots on Monday after finishing tied for 54th place at 11-over par after three rounds. Lastly, to complete the starting five, junior Michael Croker finished at 17-over par.

Playing as an individual, fifth-year senior Luke Powell finished 19-over par.

Overall, Alabama had a successful fall, winning the Ben Hogan Collegiate Tournament at the end of September along with two top-five finishes to go along with it.

Coach Seawell praised his team for a great fall and does not want the outcome of this one singular tournament overshadowing the rest.

“I think we had a good fall. Unfortunately, today’s round will make it hard to feel or see that, but we did a lot of good things, like winning a tournament and finishing in the top five in all but one. I’m just proud of the guys in a lot of different areas,” Seawell said.

Alabama heads into the offseason with work to be done in hopes of competing for a national championship in May. Consistency will be key for the squad heading into the rigid spring schedule ahead.

Coach Seawell knows how good his team can be and will be ready to go when they are in action again.

“On one end, we found out we’ve got a lot of work to do, while at the same time knowing we have a really good team, and I’m quite certain of that. We’ll rebound from this and be ready to go in January,” Seawell said.

The next tournament for the Crimson Tide is Feb. 15-17 at the Watersound Invitational in Florida. It will look to regroup and continue the success they showed at times during the fall.
