Caleb Williams Makes More History In Bears Win On Thursday Night Football ...Middle East

Sport by : (Bleacher Nation) -

One day after being named NFC Offensive Player of the Week, Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams made a case to win it again.

This is how QB1’s stat line looked after a win against the New England Patriots on Thursday Night Football:

22/33 (66.7%) 308 yards (9.3 yards/attempt) 2 TD, 0 INT 116.7 passer rating

Good stuff from Williams against a solid Patriots defense. And because I know you care, I’m happy to share this: Pro Football Focus gave Williams a season-high 83.4 grade. What a pleasant surprise from PFF, whose grades haven’t always matched what we’ve seen with our eyes.

If you like ESPN’s QBR metric, then it is worth pointing out that the 83.3 that Williams posted is his best showing since Week 1 against the Carolina Panthers and the fourth-best number he has posted since turning pro in 2024. Don’t you love it when the eye test and the numbers show the same thing? I know I do!

Caleb Williams Makes More History In Week 7

Some fun facts now that the dust has settled from the win against the Patriots on Thursday Night Football:

From Sumer Sports’ Shawn Syed: “Caleb Williams had 8 20+ yard completions against the Patriots. The Eagles and Cardinals both have 9 20+ yard completions on the entire season.” The eight 20+ yard throws are tied for the most by a quarterback in a game this season. It’s almost as if Williams and Bears Head Coach Ben Johnson saw the narrative of Williams being a check-down merchant and actively decided to show what a QB armed with Chewbacca’s Bowcaster can do. Did you catch this one from the Prime Video broadcast? Williams became the first Bears quarterback since Mitchell Trubisky in 2018 to throw consecutive 300+ yard games. Fun fact: Trubisky did it three times in a row, going off for 300+ yards against the Bucs, Dolphins, and Patriots. Chicago went 1-2 in those games, which is what makes Williams leading the Bears to wins in his back-to-back 300+ yard passing performances stand out even more. It would be quite the accomplishment to get a third straight against the Seahawks in Week 8. But we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it. Another fun one from the broadcast:

— ✶Ⓜ️????? ▶️✶ (@_MarcusD3_) October 23, 2026 Caleb Williams became the first quarterback to throw for 300+ yards against Mike Vrabel’s Patriots defense since Week 2 of the 2025 season. Yeah, I couldn’t believe that Tua Tagovailoa did it either. This is a stat that I hope doesn’t get overlooked:

— PFF (@PFF) October 23, 2026 I love sharing a Kevin Fishbain fun fact: “The 58-yarder from Caleb Williams to Luther Burden was the Bears’ longest pass play since Colston Loveland’s game-winner in Cincinnati last season.” ICYMI: Here’s that throw (with the bonus of watching Rome Odunze block downfield):

— Bleacher Nation Bears (@BN_Bears) October 23, 2026 Williams since returning from injury: 52/69 (75.4%), 613 yards, 3 TD, 0 INT, 8.9 yards/attempt, 116.4 passer rating. That comes out to a 17-game pace of 5,210 pass yards and 25 touchdowns. I love having fun with small samples. If you’re wondering if Williams can become the first 4,000-yard passer in Bears franchise history, here are some things you need to know: (1) QB1 needs 2,980 yards to reach that number, (2) He can reach that number by averaging 298 yards per game, (3) He has eight games with at least 298 passing yards under his belt. So it is plausible. At a minimum, it gives us something extra to root for down the stretch. Should Williams keep up his two-game pace for the final 10 games of the season, he’ll finish with these numbers: 4,085 passing yards, 20 touchdowns, and 1 interception. It would be unrealistic to expect it, but it is fun to look at small samples, extrapolate them, and chuckle when dreaming about the possibilities. I know that Caleb Williams looks healthy, but I don’t mind the Bears getting a mini-bye ahead of their Week 8 matchup against the Seattle Seahawks. Getting extra rest never hurts. I want the Bears well-rested for when they gear up for another primetime matchup, this time against the reigning Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks.
