Teams are positioning themselves as buyers and sellers ahead of the Nov. 10 NFL Trade Deadline.
For example, the 4-2 Chicago Bears are positioned as buyers. And while I’m not sure they’ll swing for the fences in the trade market, this front office has shown a willingness to be active at the deadline under General Manager Ryan Poles. Whether it is a big deal or a small one, I’d wager that the Bears make at least one (1) trade ahead of the deadline. Of course, that is easier said than done. After all, it takes two to tango. So … what about the Philadelphia Eagles as a trade partner?
Devan Kaney, a FOX-32 reporter in Chicago who used to be Philly-based, offered up an idea that sparked a thought:
With the Eagles likely looking to load up on draft picks, some players I think could be good trade candidates for the #Bears ahead of the deadline: EDGE Nolan Smith CB Riq Woolen DL Moro Ojomo Longshots: CB Cooper Dejean, EDGE Jalyx Hunt
— Devan Kaney (@Devan_Kaney) October 20, 2026With a 2-4 record and quarterback Jalen Hurts’ health situation, this feels like a spot where the Eagles could sell off some pieces to position themselves better in the 2027 NFL Draft. And if Philly is selling, Chicago should be buying.
The Eagles Make Sense as a 2026 NFL Trade Deadline Partner For the Bears
Let’s take a closer look at three of the most sensible trade fits:
Riq Woolen, cornerback — Woolen is probably my favorite Bears fit in this bunch. A fifth-round pick (153rd overall) in the 2022 NFL Draft, the 6-foot-4-inch Woolen was a Pro Bowler as a rookie in 2022 and a Super Bowl champion with the Seahawks in 2025. He is Pro Football Focus’ 17th-highest-graded cornerback this season, has a history of being sticky in coverage, and has a reputation as a ballhawk (6 INTs as a rookie, 12 overall). Chicago’s history with tall corners (Pro Bowler Nahshon Wright was 6-4, too! … 2025 NFL Draft pick Zah Frazier was 6-3) makes me think Defensive Coordinator Dennis Allen might have a type. Woolen, 27, has an expiring deal, so a trade wouldn’t be a major commitment. Moro Ojomo, defensive lineman — This team has needs in the trenches. Hence, adding a versatile defensive lineman who has taken snaps at defensive tackle and defensive end this season would be wise. Ojomo had 6 sacks, 12 quarterback hits, and 6 tackles-for-loss in 2025. He has been shut out in the sack column this season, but has recorded a pair of TFLs and three quarterback hits in his six games this season. A change of scenery and a playoff push could get the 25-year-old Ojomo back on track. Nolan Smith, edge defender — Smith, 25, was a favorite among NFL Draft nerds in 2023. The University of Georgia product’s speed and positional versatility made it easy to dream on his future. Smith seems to have settled as an edge defender. He has 3 sacks, 4 TFLs, and 3 QB hits in six games this season and is on pace to set a new career high in sacks and TFLs. I love the idea of the Bears adding a young player with postseason experience to their defense.TOP 8 BEARS TRADE TARGETS TO WATCH AHEAD OF THE DEADLINE
Kaney also lists cornerback Cooper DeJean and edge rusher Jalyx Hunt as long shots. Since I don’t think either player gets dealt, I don’t want to spend much time discussing DeJean or Hunt as Bears trade targets. But hey, maybe I’ll be wrong, and Poles pulls a splash deal out of nowhere. You can’t really rule anything out this time of year.
Oct 26, 2025; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA; Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley (26) runs to score a touchdown against the New York Giants in the second quarter at Lincoln Financial Field. Mandatory Credit: Bill Streicher-Imagn ImagesOne player who I’d bet would love to be traded to the Bears is Saquon Barkley. I’d like to think Barkley would love running in Bears Head Coach Ben Johnson’s system behind the tandem blocking of Pro Football Focus’ third-highest-graded run-blocking offensive tackle (Darnell Wright) and sixth-highest-graded run-blocking guard (Jonah Jackson) for the rest of the season. Alas, I don’t think the Eagles are putting Barkley on the block. But I’ll admit that it was fun to think about.
