PHELPS, N.Y. — A Phelps family with identical quadruplets has been displaced from their home after a two-alarm fire Sunday.
What happened?
The Oaks Corners Fire Department was dispatched to a home on Fisher Road Sunday at around 12:14 p.m. When crews got there, they determined there to be a working fire in the walls and ceiling.
Fire officials say a Tanker Task Force was requested at one point due to the lack of hydrants in the area. A second alarm was also requested as fire officials say overlapping sections of roofing made it tough for crews to put out the fire.
The fire was declared under control at around 1 p.m. Everyone was able to get out of the house safely, but the home has been deemed uninhabitable until repairs have been made, fire officials say. The American Red Cross is helping the family with emergency housing.
According to fire officials, the cause was determined to be unintentional and related to use of the fireplace.
