Seelmann was all over the field Saturday in Durham, leading all players with 16 total tackles (seven solo) while adding half a tackle for loss and half a sack. The 16 tackles were a season high for the Richmond transfer and the most by a Tar Heel in a single game since Cedric Gray recorded 17 in 2023. A key rush by Seelmann forced Duke quarterback Walker Eget into an intentional grounding penalty late in Saturday’s game. On the ground, Seelmann and the Tar Heel defense held the Duke rushing offense to a season-low 124 yards. The Blue Devils had entered the game averaging more than 226 yards on the ground.
“The way he runs to the ball and the way he gets after it, I’m not surprised to see him have 16 tackles,” said fellow linebacker Derek McDonald after Saturday’s game. “It makes my job a little easier, too.”
Seelmann and the rest of the Tar Heels will be back in action when they host Syracuse at Kenan Stadium Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
