Haas unleashes Godzilla again for Austin home race ...Middle East

Haas is bringing its favorite monster back to Formula 1 – and this time, Godzilla is ready to make its presence felt on American soil.

The US outfit has unveiled a special livery for this weekend’s United States Grand Prix at Austin’s Circuit of the Americas, teaming up with Japanese entertainment giant TOHO CO. LTD to promote its upcoming film Godzilla Minus Zero.

The VF-26 will ditch some of its familiar red-and-white identity in favour of a more imposing blue presence across its sidepods and rear wing, while the legendary kaiju gets a starring role on the engine cover.

It is a suitably oversized statement for Haas’s second home race of the 2026 season, following May’s Miami Grand Prix. And for anyone who thought Godzilla’s Japanese appearance earlier this year was a one-off, the monster clearly has unfinished business in F1.

Godzilla goes racing again

This is the second time Haas has turned to the iconic creature for a special look this season, having already rolled out a Godzilla-themed design at Suzuka back in March.

The Austin edition extends the collaboration beyond the car itself. Drivers Ollie Bearman and Esteban Ocon will sport matching one-off race suits and team merchandise, ensuring the monster’s influence stretches well beyond the garage.

Whether Godzilla can inspire a similarly fearsome performance on track remains another matter. Haas started the campaign brightly, collecting points in five of the first six rounds, but its momentum has since stalled.

The team has scored in only one race since Monaco, with both Ocon and Bearman finishing inside the top nine in Azerbaijan providing its sole points haul during that stretch.

A monster task for Haas

Haas arrives in Austin seventh in the constructors’ standings with 30 points. That gives it a seven-point cushion over newcomers Audi, but leaves it 38 points adrift of sixth-placed Alpine.

“We’re excited to come back to COTA, one of three US races on the calendar, but what we consider our biggest home race,” commented Haas team boss Ayao Komatsu.

“I think we made a step forward in Singapore in terms of car setup and operations, so we’re keen to continue on that trend and capitalise on every opportunity we get.

“We have a very exciting collaboration with Godzilla for the United States Grand Prix, following our launch in Japan earlier in the year.

“It has always been planned to be a season-long collaboration, and of course, with ‘Godzilla Minus Zero’ coming out in cinemas soon, we’re doing a special livery and fan event to celebrate.

“It’s great to be able to host these additional events on top of activating at track, so we’re looking forward to a great home race.”

So for now, though, Haas has a monster to unveil, a home crowd to entertain and a points drought to break. Godzilla may be the star of the show, but the team will hope its drivers can deliver the real destruction on Sunday.
