ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A man is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday morning in a shooting that killed a 64-year-old man on Hague Street on the city’s west side in August.
Troy Dukes Jr., 33, is charged with second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon. He’s not allowed to own a gun because of a previous felony drug conviction. Dukes pleaded not guilty to his charges in September.
Dukes is accused of killing Ronald Leonard Jr. in the afternoon of Aug. 30. Rochester Police say they got a call for shots fired and found the victim’s body in the backyard of a vacant house. Officers arrested Dukes in late September on Dr. Samuel McCree Way near Genesee Street.
RPD says Dukes and the victim knew each other and had a “previous altercation.” Dukes is due in Monroe County Court.
Police also say they seized over 100 packets of fentanyl and 36 packets of cocaine, all packaged for drug sale, while serving multiple search warrants on Hague Street. According to RPD, officers made multiple arrests in connection with the drug bust, but Dukes was not charged in connection with the drugs.
