Fitter and Faster Swim Camps is the proud sponsor of SwimSwam’s College Recruiting Channel and all commitment news. For many, swimming in college is a lifelong dream that is pursued with dedication and determination. Fitter and Faster is proud to honor these athletes and those who supported them on their journey.

Ian Miller, an NCSA Spring Championship finalist and New York high school state champion, has announced his verbal commitment to swim for the University of Pittsburgh beginning in the fall of 2027.

“I am so excited to announce my commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Pittsburgh. First off I want to thank my family, friends, and teammates for always standing by me through it all. To Coach DJ, Coach Mike, Coach Adam, and all of my BlueFins coaches thank you for always being there and making me the best swimmer I could be. And finally thank you to Coach lan and Coach Austin for this incredible opportunity, I am so excited to get this going! H2P!!”

A senior at McQuaid Jesuit School in Rochester, NY, Miller has competed for his school’s varsity swimming and diving team since his freshman year. He also currently trains year-round with the Webster Bluefins, where he primarily specializes in fly, back and IM.

Miller has qualified for three straight New York State Public High School Athletic Association state championships, with his best performances coming during his junior year last season, when McQuaid secured the title of state champion. At the 2026 NYSPHSAA Boys Federation Championship, he took 3rd in the 100 fly (48.78 – PB) and helped his team bring home the state title in the 200 free relay, 400 free relay and 200 medley relay. The Knights’ victory in the 200 medley relay also broke the New York State record in the event, clocking a time of 1:30.88.

At the 2026 NCSA Spring Championships a few weeks later, Miller earned a second swim in four events and logged five personal best times. He placed 10th in the 50 fly (21.56), 19th in the 100 fly (48.45), 21st in the 50 back (22.86) and 33rd in the 50 free (20.67), setting a lifetime best in each event. He also posted a personal best time in the 200 IM (1:53.05) and contested the 100 back (51.08) and 400 IM (4:06.38).

Best Times SCY

100 fly – 48.45 100 back – 50.37 200 IM – 1:53.05 50 free – 20.67 100 free – 48.46

A Division I program in the Atlantic Coast Conference, Pitt’s men’s team placed 11th at last season’s conference championships before sending three athletes to compete at the 2026 NCAA Division I Men’s Championships, where they finished 20th overall. To earn a second swim at the 2026 ACCs, it took times of 46.43 in the 100 fly, 46.71 in the 100 back, 1:44.99 in the 200 IM and 19.46/42.67 in the 50/100 free, putting Miller outside the cutoff in each of his top events.

On the team itself, Miller would have ranked 5th in the 100 back and 7th in both the 100 fly and 200 IM at the end of the 2025-2026 season. With almost a full season to go before he arrives on campus, it remains to be seen exactly how the roster will shake out, but Miller should bring added depth to the team next fall.

The list of recruits set to join Miller in Pittsburgh next fall currently includes Gabi Pelinkovic, Braylen May, Jonathan Feole-Haughey, Grant Smith, Sammy DaJusta and Kian Grabar, all of whom should make for strong training partners over their four years together.
