The Shaw brothers – Colter (Justin Hartley) and Russell (Jensen Ackles) — will be reunited once again as Ackles returns to the hit CBS series to reprise his role as Russell Shaw in the Sunday, November 1 episode, entitled, “Need to Know.”
According to the tune-in information the story is: “After a military contractor’s wife and daughter are kidnapped, Colter discovers Russell is investigating a related lead. The Shaw brothers join forces to uncover a high-stakes cover-up.”
The last time Colter and Russell were together was in the Season 3 finale, when Russell agreed to take a shady job to keep Colter from finding out what was in a government file about what their father did to him. Colter is unaware, so when they reunite on Nov. 1, all is good between them.
And Ackles posted on Instagram about his return: “After a long, much needed, summer break with the fam…it does feel good to be back on a set.”
View this post on InstagramIt won’t be Ackles last appearance on Tracker, but they may be harder to come by, because as previously reported by Parade, he is signed to star in the book adaptation of John Sandford’s Rules of Prey, the first in a series of novels featuring Lucas Davenport, a former Minneapolis PD detective pulled out of seclusion when there is a series of murders designed specifically for him to solve. It is slated for streamer MGM+.

In an interview with TVInsider that took place during the filming of “Need to Know,” Hartley had some encouraging words about continued appearances by Ackles, saying, “Right now, [Jensen] is about probably 100 meters away from me. He’s in at least one, and we’ll have him back when we can. I think probably in the new year we’ll have him back for a few.”
