Who is the man behind former White House press secretary Katie Zacharia? Her husband, movie producer Tyler Zacharia, is the father of their four children, ages 12, 10, 8, and 6.
Katie took over the role on Monday, Oct. 12, after Karoline Leavitt left her post in August, citing family reasons.
On Friday, Oct. 16, a White House official confirmed to Parade that Katie is “transitioning out” of her role as press secretary.
Although Katie is also focused on her family, she believed she could do a good job in the role.
“I adore my family,” she said during her first press briefing on Tuesday, Oct. 13. “I love them. They are my priority … the idea of not spending evenings with my kids is completely unacceptable.”
She noted that while the family is in Washington, D.C., they are celebrating two birthdays.
Katie has leaned on her husband, whose film credits include the 2019 crime drama The Irishman, directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Robert De Niro and Al Pacino; the 2025 comedy Roofman, starring Channing Tatum and Kirsten Dunst; and the 2019 drama The Professor and the Madman, starring Mel Gibson and Sean Penn.
“His job is very Hollywood-based and not political,” Katie told the L.A. Mom Magazine podcast in July 2026. “My job is highly political. He’s often gotten a little bit of negative feedback about his wife’s job and who she supports in the news.”
Katie stayed home with her children from 2014 to 2020 before entering politics.
“The sacrifice of staying home for me, for the young years, I knew I needed to be home with them when they were babies,” she said earlier this year. “And I completely poured into those years.”
