To commemorate Kenan Stadium’s centennial season, 97.9 The Hill is inviting community members to share their favorite Kenan memories from the past 100 years. This twice-weekly series will showcase stories from players and fans throughout the fall.
For years, UNC served as the nail to Florida State’s hammer after the Seminoles joined the ACC. Bobby Bowden’s dynasty had thwarted the Tar Heels at every turn in their attempts to break into the upper echelon of college football. Then came one afternoon in the fall of 2001. With the nation still reeling from the September 11 attacks, UNC gave its fans something to smile about in a stunning blowout of the No. 5 Noles. Chapelboro’s own Kenny Dike was at the game and remembers his experience.
