ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A man is facing a weapons charge after Rochester Police surrounded a home on the city’s northeast side, shutting down part of the neighborhood.
News10NBC’s photojournalist saw officers surround the home on Hempel Street, a block from Clifford Avenue, around 1:15 a.m. on Tuesday. RPD says that’s where officers arrested a 27-year-old man and took him to the Monroe County Jail.
Police say the investigation started with a report of a man threatening a woman with a handgun on Monday just before midnight. Officers responded to a home on Clay Avenue near Lake Avenue and learned from the victim that the suspect had left the scene with the gun.
That investigation led officers to the home on Hempel Street. RPD said it didn’t find the gun the victim mentioned at the scene. Police are still investigating and are asking anyone with information to call 911.
