A death investigation is underway after a man was found inside of a residence after a fire in the Lawndale neighborhood Monday.
According to Chicago police, officers and firefighters were called to a report of a fire in a residential building in the 1300 block of South Millard Avenue at approximately 5:22 a.m. Monday.
Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the blaze, and in the ensuing investigation a 50-year-old man was found unresponsive inside, police said. That man was pronounced dead at the scene.
A death investigation has been initiated, and no cause of death was immediately reported.
No other injuries were reported, and no other residents were displaced in the fire, according to authorities.
A cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
