Ask my two daughters, ages 9 and 6, to name their favorite place in the world, and you’ll get the same answer every time: Great Wolf Lodge.
We’ve been visiting the indoor water park since my oldest was just a year old, so when Great Wolf Lodge invited us to experience its Howl-O-Ween festivities—free trick-or-treating, Halloween bingo, a special spooky menu and more—we jumped at the chance.
We spent the weekend mixing Halloween activities with trips down our favorite waterslides, and by the time we left, we were already talking about making it an annual family tradition. After so many rainy weekends here in the Northeast, an indoor getaway had another big perk: Our Halloween fun could go on, whatever the forecast.
Here’s what families should know about Howl-O-Ween at Great Wolf Lodge, plus our favorite treats from the Halloween menu.
What Is Howl-O-Ween at Great Wolf Lodge?
Howl-O-Ween is Great Wolf Lodge’s family-friendly Halloween celebration, which offers seasonal activities, festive décor and themed food and drinks to its indoor water park getaway. Basically, it makes Great Wolf Lodge that much better by just bringing in the Halloween fun everywhere you look! This year’s celebration started September 24 and runs through October 31 at all U.S. locations.
Families can dress up for trick-or-treating, join the Monster Bash Dance Party (free for overnight guests!) and enjoy activities such as FREE Boo Bingo, Halloween trivia and crafts. Halloween food and drinks—and the optional Ghostly Globes experience at select locations—cost extra, but the trick-or-treating is free for overnight guests.
My Favorite Foods and Drinks From Great Wolf Lodge’s Halloween Menu
Howlin’ Wagyu Burger
My family loved this specialty burger (Wagyu beef, pork belly, cheddar and zesty aioli) so much that everyone had to have a bite! It’s juicy, comes served with sweet potato fries and was a hit with our whole crew. Yum!

Mac Attack Double Burger
Two burger patties, two layers of mac and cheese, two slices of tomato, extra bacon and two slices of cheese—yes, please. This burger was a hit with my whole family. We practically fought over who got the next bite.
Fall Funnel Cake
Funnel cake is always a family favorite, but it can be so messy! These funnel cake fries were the perfect size for dipping, without the mess. They made a great snack between trips to the wave pool.
Pumpkin Pie Caramel Swirl Shake
Yum! This pumpkin pie and caramel shake was such a fun fall treat. My 9 year old said this was her favorite drink of the weekend!
Salted Pretzel Crunch Chiller
The pretzel crunch made this one my favorite. I loved the contrast of the crunchy pretzels with the creamy chiller—a sweet-and-salty treat I’d order again.
Halloween Trifle
Three layers, pudding and gummy worms… what a fun Halloween treat! The gummy worms on top gave this dessert the perfect spooky touch.
Bug Guts Mocktail
This mocktail came in a glass that lit up, which added to the Halloween fun! My kids said it was super sweet and loved the gummy worms. It was my 6-year-old’s top choice.
Oreo Cookie Cup
With all the spooky treats we tried at Great Wolf Lodge, the Oreo Cookie Cup was an easy one to love — the Oreo topping and little pieces layered through it were the cherry on top. If you’re a cookies-and-cream fan, add this one to your list!
Mali-Boo! Beach Goblin Cocktail
I loved this one. It came in a light-up cup and was a fun cocktail for me to enjoy by the pool. I felt like I was really on vacation with my kids completely entertained!
Spiked Orange Phantom Cocktail
My husband voted this as his favorite drink of the weekend. The Spiked Orange Phantom was another fun addition to our Halloween taste test.

Halloween Activities Included With Your Stay at Great Wolf Lodge
The Trick-or-Treat Trail
Running from 5–7 p.m. for overnight guests, the Trick-or-Treat Trail is a super cute way to dress up and collect fun treats at different stops around the lodge. Kids also get a book to complete, with a sticker at each stop. I especially loved all the photo spots—perfect for capturing family fall memories!
Halloween Bingo
By 3 p.m., my kids were pretty tired from the water rides and ready to dry off and head back to our room before dinner. But as we walked into the main lobby, energetic party hosts were getting everyone ready for Halloween BINGO, and we couldn’t resist joining in! I loved how organized and interactive the game was, with easy-to-use boards for the kids and multiple winners. It turned an ordinary break into one of those little family memories I’ll treasure.
The Monster Bash Dance Party
After a full day of swimming, water rides, Halloween BINGO, dinner and trick-or-treating, you’d think we’d be done—but nope! The Monster Bash Dance Party was the perfect way to end the night. Kids came in costume and danced to spooky music, keeping the Halloween fun going. With so much packed into one day, I felt like I was on a weeklong cruise.

What Families Should Know Before Booking a Howl-O-Ween Getaway
Howl-O-Ween runs through October 31 at all Great Wolf lodges in the U.S., however the Ghostly Globes are limited to the four locations listed above, with dates and reservations dependent on the lodge.

Before planning your evening, check the Great Wolf Lodge app for your location’s activity schedule. Although the Trick-or-Treat Trail typically runs from 5 to 7 p.m., timing and availability can vary.
