UC SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (KEYT) - The Gauchos got their revenge by finally getting some goals.
Steinar Bjornsson, Zac Siebenlist and Kaden Standish all scored first half goals in the 3-1 UCSB win over Cal Poly at Harder Stadium.
Cal Poly's lone goal came late in the second half by Devin Bening, his fourth on the year.
Last last month UCSB lost at Cal Poly in the first-leg of the Blue-Green Rivlary 2-1.
Besides getting payback on their rival, UCSB was also happy to see some of their shots find the back of the net. The Gauchos had been frustrated several times this year by creating great scoring chances but seeing very little goals go up on the scoreboard.
Bjornsson netted his team-leading 6th goal on the year in the 18th minute.
Siebenlist, a San Luis Obiso native, scored his first goal on the season in the 23rd minute.
Standish finished off the big first half for the Gauchos with his 4th goal on the season in the 39th minute.
Jack Middleton tallied 2 assists for UCSB.
UCSB improves to 6-3-4 on the year and plays at Gonzaga this Wednesday.
Cal Poly is 4-4-5 on the year.
