Two people were apprehended after a police pursuit in connection with a shooting that left one person dead early Saturday morning in Valparaiso, Indiana, authorities said.
The Valparaiso Police Department said in a Facebook post officers responded to the 50 block of Campbell Street regarding multiple gunshots and a person who had been injured around 2:56 a.m. Officers provided aid to the victim before paramedics arrived, police said. The victim was taken to an area hospital, where they were later pronounced dead.
Police obtained a description of the suspect vehicle and direction of travel. A Porter County sheriff’s deputy later located the vehicle, prompting a pursuit. The driver eventually stopped in the area of State Road 249 and Interstate 294, where two people were taken into custody.
