SANTA BARBARA, Calif. (KEYT) — A young poet’s love of writing will be remembered through a special dedication at the Grace Fisher Foundation’s Inclusive Arts Clubhouse.
The foundation will honor Max Ritvo on Saturday, October 10, by naming its reading area Max’s Reading and Writing Nook.
Ritvo died in 2016 at age 25 after battling Ewing’s sarcoma, a rare form of cancer. His poetry often explored illness, mortality, love and the human experience.
The ceremony will feature poetry readings and a gathering celebrating his life and creative work.
The tribute also coincides with a fundraising effort supported by the Alan B. Slifka Foundation, which will match donations up to $150,000 through December 31.
The contributions will help maintain free arts programs for people of all abilities.
The dedication is scheduled on Saturday from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at 120 South Hope Avenue in Santa Barbara.
