Linda Evangelista, the iconic Canadian supermodel, made a significant real estate investment by turning her $1.4 million Chelsea penthouse into a successful real estate investment, selling the New York City property for $6.75 million 25 years after acquiring it in 2001.

One of the most sought-after supermodels of the late 1980s and 1990s, she once said, “We don’t wake up for less than $10,000 a day.”

Decades later, she secured a multimillion-dollar return on her Chelsea property.

The Vogue cover girl’s former home featured a 4,022-square-foot interior, with the unit featuring four bedrooms, two full bathrooms, an open floor plan, a large living room with a fireplace and an industrial design featuring concrete floors, exposed brick and 13-foot ceilings dotted with skylights.

Evangelista’s longtime NYC property also featured a 2,500-square-foot private roof terrace that sits atop the historic six-story red brick structure of the Spears Building, tucked between the Hudson River and the High Line.

Built in the late 1880s by the Kinney Brothers, it was initially used as a commercial manufacturing and industrial warehouse which explains its distinctive loft-style character.

These luxurious features made her Chelsea penthouse a standout property in the supermodel’s real estate portfolio.

In 2024, the runway icon initially listed the sprawling Manhattan pad for $9.45 million, but after two price cuts, the asking price was reduced first to $8.19 million and then to $7.99 million, according to Gimme via the New York Post.

At one point, Hollywood star and fellow Canadian Keanu Reeves rented Evangelista’s penthouse amid his participation in the high-profile revival of Samuel Beckett’s tragicomedy Waiting for Godot at the Hudson Theatre.

The John Wick star leased the property for around $45,000 a month for a brief period from late 2025 into early 2026.

Later that year, Evangelista ultimately sold the Chelsea penthouse for $6.75 million at the end of September, with the listing held by Steve Gold of the Corcoran Group, per Robb Report.

The $6.75 million sale represented a substantial increase over the $1.4 million that Evangelista paid for the property 25 years earlier.

As for the supermodel, she didn’t move far from the West Chelsea neighborhood. Instead, she relocated to the Far West Side of Midtown Manhattan, where she purchased a three-bedroom corner unit at 35 Hudson Yards for a whopping $5.24 million.
