WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army West Point swimming & diving kicked off their 2026-27 season competing in the Thursday Night Showdown at Crandall Pool. The men competed against Marist, and the women’s team took on both Marist and UConn.
This meet marked Director of Army Swimming & Diving, Scott Thacker’s first wins at West Point after taking over at the helm in June 2026. He took over the program from Brandt Nigro and is the 11th head coach in Army men’s swimming & diving program history and the eighth head coach in Army women’s swimming & diving history.
“These first few wins belong to the whole team and staff”, said Thacker. “Watching our team and staff set the tone and execute on our standards was a joy. I am beyond proud of the team for what they achieved, and am grateful for the remarkable honor it is to be a part of this team and institution. These results set a great tone for the season, and we are excited to continue the work as we prepare for our upcoming meets.”

WEST POINT, New York – The Marist men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams kicked off their seasons at the Army Invite on Thursday evening. Both teams turned in strong performances to open the 2026-27 campaign.
On the women’s side, Rae Dodson had the Red Foxes’ top finish, placing second in the women’s 150-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:42.41. April Avila had a strong meet, placing third in the women’s 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 30.40. In the women’s 6×100-yard freestyle relay, the team of Kennedy Wheeler, Anna Kirby, Cadence Johnston and Avila finished third with a time of 5:23.93.
Daisy Pitches had a fifth-place finish in the women’s 150-yard freestyle with a time of 1:24.92. Dodson also finished fourth in the women’s 50-yard breaststroke with a time of 30.09.
On the men’s side, Dylan Magda finished third in the men’s 150-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:31.19. In the men’s 200-yard individual medley, Colton Sears placed second with a time of 2:03.33. The team of Jake Mercer, Joey Myer, Matthew McManus and Oscar Bjering finished third in the men’s 5×100-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:59.33.
Other strong performances included Brandon Lin finishing fourth in the men’s 150-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:32.89. Brady King finished fourth in the men’s 150-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:23.59, with Brian Wukitch right behind him in fifth with a time of 1:27.80.
Adam Zaremba had a fourth-place finish in the men’s 150-yard freestyle with a time of 1:16.69. Tyler Dropic finished fourth in the men’s 150-yard butterfly with a time of 1:24.93, while Kris Flores finished fifth with a time of 1:27.16. McManus placed fourth in the men’s 50-yard backstroke with a time of 24.77, while King finished fifth with a time of 24.81.
