A shelter-in-place order was issued early Friday morning for parts of suburban Oswego due to an “active scene,” with a large police presence and residents asked to avoid the area.
The Oswego Police Department posted about the order on social media at 5:33 a.m. According to police, there was an active scene in the 500 block of Colchester Drive, with a shelter-in-place issued for a one-mile radius of the incident as a precaution.
“There is a heavy police presence,” the post said. “Please avoid the area.”
Some schools and bus routes in District 308 were affected, including Traughber Junior High, Southbury Elementary School and Prairie Point Elementary School.
“Avoiding the one mile radius of this situation will cause significant delay to bus routes,” the Oswego Community Unit School District 308 said in a post online.
