Welcome to Billboard Pro’s Trending Up newsletter, where we take a closer look at the songs, artists, curiosities and trends that have caught the music industry’s attention. Some have come out of nowhere, others have taken months to catch on, and all of them could become ubiquitous in the blink of a TikTok clip.

This week: ADÉLA’s second consecutive hit single just continues to rise, while Malcolm Todd eyes a chart breakthrough from his current album for once, and a mashup becomes a surprise viral sensation.

ADÉLA Scores Massive Pop Breakthrough With “Nicole Kidman”

ADÉLA was already making headlines with the fast-rising success of “Ain’t In LA” and the splashy Billboard 200 No. 4 debut for her new PRIMA LP, but “Nicole Kidman” is shaping up to be something entirely different. An instant breakout hit upon the album’s full release, “Nicole Kidman” is currently the hottest pop song on social media thanks to ADÉLA’s Doja Cat and Ariana Grande-nodding delivery, slick lyrical callbacks to Kidman’s discography, and a splashy, clippable music video.

In the PRIMA’s first week of release (Sept. 4-10), Kidman collected 5.76 million official on-demand U.S. streams, with that number spiking 66% to over 9.59 million streams the following week (Sept. 11-17). “Nicole Kidman” truly came alive over the weekend. During the five-day period of Sept. 11-15, the breezy track earned 6.14 million official streams, jumping 51% to 9.3 million official streams a week later (Sept. 18-22).

On the Sept. 26-dated Billboard Hot 100, “Kidman” flies 45-22, and it’ll likely continue its quick ascent after taking the No. 1 spot on Spotify’s Daily Top Songs USA from Ella Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” on Tuesday (Sept. 22). With over 1.5 million uses on TikTok, 131,000 plays on Instagram Reels, 10 million views for the music video, a viral dance trend and an all-out embrace from the real-life Kidman, ADÉLA’s latest hit is shaping up to be a true monster. — KYLE DENIS

Malcolm Todd Fans Are a Little Bit Obsessed With His New TikTok-Boosted Hit

While alt-R&B singer-songwriter Malcolm Todd has unquestionably been one of the streaming breakout stars of 2026, his biggest hits this year mostly have come from his 2024 debut mixtape Sweet Boy — led by the Hot 100 top 20 hit “Earrings” — and not the Do That Again album he actually dropped this June. But one song from the latter set may be on its way to reversing that trend: the increasingly viral “Obsessica.”

The tongue-in-cheek lust song — with the chorus hook “I think I’m a little bit obsessed,” and a climax that features Todd checking over a dozen girls’ names — had already begun to take off on streaming, but has particularly exploded following a particularly effective TikTok post of his. On Sept. 9, the rising phenom shared video of him and actress Inde Navarrette — she of the surprise 2026 horror blockbuster Obsession, natch — alternately lip syncing verse lyrics (“I’m a Virgo/ You’re a Tauraus/ Chart says no, let’s just ignore it”) to the song before playfully embracing.

Fans immediately took to the chemistry and implied title pun between the short video’s two leads, as well as their height disparity (“how f–king tall is this guy” reads the clip’s most-liked comment). The ensuing virality led to the song racking up over 3.3 official on-demand U.S. streams for the tracking week ending Sept. 18, according to Luminate — up 429% from the 600,000 streams it had amassed two weeks prior, before the video’s posting. The song returns to the Bubbling Under Hot 100 at No. 6 this week, and if it continues its trajectory, may join “Earrings” on the proper Hot 100 fairly soon. — ANDREW UNTERBERGER

Wxoda Rides TikTok Viral 2 Rare x Blood Orange Mash-Up to Fast-Rising Hit

Earlier this summer (July 23), DJ Zek3 shared a mashup of 2Rare’s “Camden Bop” — which already had a life soundtracking viral dance trends — and Blood Orange’s “Champagne Coast” that quickly made the rounds on TikTok. By July 27, rising rapper Wxoda (who boasts over 1.1 million TikTok followers) shared the first snippet of his song using that same beat, with people immediately gravitating towards the “And I stay with bad b—ches, you know we be vibin’” refrain, as well as the accompanying “Camden Bop”-nodding dance trend. “Vibin” officially hit streaming services on July 31, with its numbers continuing to rise throughout August and September as the song traveled across TikTok, helping its accompanying sound reach over 725,000 clips.

According to Luminate, “Vibin” has exploded over 1,625% in streaming activity over the past four weeks. During the seven-day period of Aug. 14-20, “Vibin” earned 155,000 official on-demand U.S. streams, with that number more than doubling in each of the three following weeks. By the seven-day period of Sept. 4-10, “Vibin” collected 1.67 million official streams, jumping a further 60% to over 2.68 million official streams earned the following week (Sept. 11-17).

With the official audio clip earning over three million views on YouTube in just one month and the song playing in over 74,000 Instagram Reels, the jury is out on just how far Wxoda can ride social media’s obsession with “Vibin.” — KYLE DENIS
