She’s BACK! General Hospital has confirmed plans to bring back Daytime Emmy winner Alley Mills as the complex legacy villain Heather Webber this fall on the ABC soap opera.
The news was confirmed by TV Insider’s Stephanie Sloane, who spoke with Daytime Emmy-winning executive producer Frank Valentini, who teased that there is “never a dull moment” when the beloved character is in town.
Mills will begin her latest run on General Hospital beginning Thursday, November 5, 2026. It is currently unknown just how long this return will last.
Mills is the fourth actress to take over the part of Heather Webber since Georganne LaPiere originated the role in 1976. The role was then briefly played by Mary O’Brien before Robin Mattson popularized the part in 1980. Following Mattson’s retirement, Mills assumed the role in 2022.

The actress took home the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Performer in a Drama Series for her portrayal of Heather in 2023 and 2025.
Mills began her professional acting career in 1970 with the feature film Diary of a Mad Housewife, before appearing in her first television role in 1978 on The Waltons. In 1988 Mills became a household name for her portrayal of Norma Arnold on the ABC comedy-drama The Wonder Years.
She began her daytime television career in 2006 when she took the part of Pamela “Pam” Douglas on the CBS soap opera The Bold and the Beautiful, where she portrayed Susan Flannery’s character Stephanie Forrester’s sister and Betty White’s character Ann Douglas’s daughter.
Last year, Mills attended the 52nd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards, where she took home her second award for Outstanding Guest Performer in a Drama Series for her performance as Heather. While on the red carpet, she spoke with soap journalist Michael Fairman, of Michael Fairman TV, about whether fans can expect to see her back in Port Charles.
When asked if she sees Heather returning soon, Mills explained, “Well, I mean, it hasn’t been that soon because I’ve been gone doing a play all year.” She then teased that her schedule has opened up, adding, “So, I’m back in LA, but my last line to the baby [Ace] was ‘I’ll be back.’”
Mills also recalled a conversation with executive producer Frank Valentini, saying, “Frank said about a year, and it’s about a year next month. So, I’m back [In L.A.]. But I don’t know. I don’t know what’s going to happen.”
