Coming into the women’s 400 IM, 13-year-old Yu Zidi was one of the most talked-about names of these Asian Games through the first few days, and that publicity was once again warranted, as the young phenom clocked an Asian Games record in the 400 IM on day 4.
Yu led a 1-2 youthful punch for China, as she and 15-year-old Ke Wenxi brought home another gold and silver, with Yu’s performance moving her up to the #5 performer in the event all time in 4:28.56.
This time, while still just a hair slower than Ye Shiwen‘s Asian Record of 4:28.43, it did take down the Games standard that Ye set back in 2014 in 4:32.97, a time that Ke’s time was also faster than.
