CUBS LINEUP — It’s a potential clinch night for the Cubbies. A win over the Marlins (or a D-backs loss thereafter) would lock them into a postseason spot. From there, they’d still need to lock in the top WC slot to get home field advantage, but we’ll take one thing at a time.

That leaves DH open for a red-hot Michael Conforto and pushes an also red hot Michael Busch up to third in the batting order.
Carson Kelly is the man behind the plate for Shota Imanaga, and Dansby Swanson turns things over, batting ninth.
It won’t be an easy night for Ian Happ to get his big homer, but maybe PCA can steal a couple bags to check that box, too. Go Cubs.

Chicago Cubs: Shota Imanaga, LHP
Shota Imanaga has a lot going for him in this matchup against the Marlins tonight. For one, the wind is howling in (13 mph with gusts up to 20 mph), and that just always plays with his skill set. For another, the Marlins are much worse against left-handed pitchers (90 wRC+, 27th in MLB) than they are against righties (104 wRC+, t-8th).
And lastly, he just held this Marlins team to one earned run on only three hits and no walks over six innings less than a month ago.
And if all that weren’t enough, he’s just generally been on a mini-heater:

Janson Junk held the Cubs to one earned run over 5.0 innings in Miami the last time they met, but immediately after that game, the Mets absolutely torched him: 3.0 IP, 8H, 8ER, 1BB, 0K.
And after that, the Diamondbacks chased him after just 3.0 innings pitched, as well, albeit with just one run scored on a solo homer.
