Lauren Boebert is speaking out after a sworn ethics complaint accused the Colorado congresswoman of having sexual relationships with three of her staffers.
The complaint, filed with the House Committee on Ethics on September 17 by David Wheeler of American Muckrakers, alleges that Boebert had relationships with former district director Clarice Navarro Ratzlaff, district chief of staff Raven Finegan, and former chief of staff Jeffrey Small while they worked under her supervision.
The filing, which was obtained by the Colorado Time Recorder, also alleges that Boebert arranged a $200,000 payment to Ratzlaff after she allegedly threatened to file her own ethics complaint.
Boebert calls the allegations “utterly false.”
“I reject these baseless allegations as utterly false and there is no truth to them whatsoever. I have never had a sexual relationship or an inappropriate romantic relationship with any member of my staff—past or present. This is nothing more than a politically motivated stunt designed to manipulate the ethics process, create headlines, smear me, and generate clickbait,” a Sept. 20 press release from Congresswoman Boebert’s office stated.
Ratzlaff has also denied the allegations, calling them “entirely false, defamatory, and beyond ridiculous” in a statement to the Colorado Times Recorder.
The complaint identifies Ratzlaff as the central figure in its allegations, claiming the two women had a relationship that lasted from 2021 until January 2025. It also makes allegations involving Finegan and Small, though the filing provides different levels of detail about each alleged relationship.
Jace Ratzlaff, Navarro’s ex-husband, also addressed the allegations in a statement included in the Muckrakers’ release.
“I assumed this would eventually surface,” he said, adding that he would have no further comment.
Boebert also criticized the timing and source of the complaint, arguing that it is part of a politically motivated effort against her.
“They come from an activist who has long recycled sensational claims, including numerous baseless accusations previously fact-checked as false,” a statement read. “These untruthful claims are ridiculous, reckless, and politically motivated as they come just a few weeks before ballots go out in my election. To be clear, swearing to it does not make it an official complaint. This was a political smear packaged as an ethics filing and published before anyone checked whether it even qualifies under the Committee’s rules.”
