Josie Canseco has broken her silence on the tragic death of her friend Presley Gerber, who died Sunday, Sept. 20, at the age of 27.
Taking to her Instagram Stories, the Victoria’s Secret model and daughter of MLB legend Jose Canseco shared a brief but heartbreaking tribute shortly after the news broke.
“Love you Pres?doesn’t feel real,” she wrote under an image of Gerber smiling at the camera. “You deserved better than this. I’m so sorry it all got to this point.”

Canseco and Gerber knew each other through their shared ties to the modeling industry and a tight-knit circle of mutual friends, including model Charlotte D’Alessio.
In 2015, Canseco and D’Alessio went viral at Coachella after photographer Bryant Eslava photographed the pair, and that image then helped launch D’Alessio’s modeling career.
D’Alessio later dated Gerber, and E! News reported in December 2017 that the two had been casually dating after meeting through Gerber’s sister, Kaia. D’Alessio and Canseco’s longtime friendship provides another link between Canseco and Gerber’s overlapping social circles.
Canseco’s words come as Gerber’s family and friends continue to mourn a young man who had been increasingly open about his struggles.
In recent years, Gerber spoke publicly about mental health and addiction, using his social media platforms to encourage others to keep talking about their own experiences. His sister recently described his openness as something she was “deeply proud” of.
