In the final event of tonight’s session, China took down the Asian Games record en route to grabbing gold in the women’s 4x100m free relay.
China stopped the clock at a speedy mark of 3:33.10 to overtake their own meet record of 3:33.96 established at the last edition of this prestigious competition three years ago.
Behind China, however, was Hong Kong, with the quartet of Gilaine Ma, Siobhan Haughey, Li Sum Yiu and Natalie Kan ripping their former national record to shreds en route to silver.
The foursome notched a speedy effort of 3:36.59, a result which hacked well over two seconds off the former Hong Kong national standard of 3:39.10 put on the books in 2023 in Hangzhou.
Tonight, Ma led off in 54.95 before Haughey took over and crushed a second leg of 52.22. Yiu kept the speed going in 54.51 before Kan sealed the deal in an anchor of 54.91.
