ONTARIO, N.Y. — Wayne County Sheriff’s deputies said a Town of Ontario woman has been arrested following an animal cruelty investigation, leading to three cats being rescued.
Deputies say Corinne J. Speights, 28, has been arrested on 144 counts of animal cruelty, failure to provide sustenance food or drink, and four counts of animal abandonment.
Speights has been accused of abandoning and depriving four cats of food or drink and keeping the animals in a confined space.
A search warrant was executed at her home, and this led to deputies taking three of the four cats, according to the sheriff’s office. The inside of the home was covered in trash and cat and dog feces/urine, deputies reported.
The cats were later given to the Humane Society of Wayne County.
Speights was given an appearance ticket to appear at the Town of Ontario Court.
