“Call Me” was released as a single in February 1980 and it quickly became a huge hit. It hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the U.S. and held the position for six weeks. The song soared up the charts in other countries too, taking the top spot in the U.K., Canada, and Luxembourg as well. It even topped the Billboard Hot 100 year-end chart.
The Blondie track was also extremely popular in many other countries and it was certified gold by the RIAA. “Call Me” earned a Grammy nomination for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal and a Golden Globe nomination for Best Original Song.
