As reported by Deadline, the show’s Key Second Assistant Director Mindy Tessa McKoin has alleged that she was fired by Shrinking executive producer Kip Kroeger in July not because of “different needs of production,” which was reportedly the reason given, but because she had previously reported sexual abuse by Shrinking executive producer and director Randall Winston at a season 2 wrap party for the series in June of 2024.
The specific accusations include Winston’s alleged “unwelcome, severe harassment because of [McKoin’s] sex, including by grabbing and groping her breast without her consent at a work-related function in the presence of a coworker.” McKoin also reported “inaccurate time records and pay statements,” which she believes played a role in her termination as well.
In the seven-part complaint, filed in the Los Angeles Superior Court on Sept. 15, attorney Avi Gholian states that, regarding the termination, “no performance deficiency, misconduct or business rationale was identified then or anytime thereafter.” The lawsuit also alleges that, in response to McKoin’s report of sexual harassment, WBTV did nothing.
In a statement to Deadline, WBTV claimed that was not the case, saying, among other things, “The Studio takes all allegations of misconduct and retaliation seriously and has policies and procedures in place to prevent, investigate and address such concerns…Once the allegations were raised, the Studio immediately engaged an independent third-party to conduct a thorough investigation, consistent and in accordance with those policies and procedures. Based on the completed investigation, the Studio concluded that the allegations were unsubstantiated and unsupported by any corroborating evidence.”
