’90s Alternative Rock Legends Announce New Show With Massive Lineup in Support of Mike Roche ...Saudi Arabia

News by : (Parade) -

The Offspring announced today, Sept. 16, that they and a “bunch of their friends” from the Southern California punk and alternative rock community will be performing a benefit concert in support of Mike Roche, a founding member and bassist of the legendary punk rock band T.S.O.L.

Roche, who was recently diagnosed with both Parkinson’s disease and dementia in 2024, has seen his condition progress and now requires round-the-clock care. The benefit in his honor is set for Nov. 7 at the Garden Amphitheater, with family and friends also launching a GoFundMe to help with care and expenses.

The concert lineup is shaping up to be a goodie. In addition to The Offspring, punk legends including Pennywise, Adolescents, Guttermouth, Change Today, Mainliners, Love Canal, and Dissension are all on board.

“Mike Roche is basically the reason I’m playing in a punk band,” Pennywise guitarist Fletcher Dragge shared. “T.S.O.L. was the first ‘real’ punk show I ever attended, and after watching Roche and the band play, I decided there, and then I was going to be in a band.”

He added, “He’s been a huge part of the punk scene for more than 40 years, and he’s influenced countless musicians, and more than that, he’s a great person and friend. … This lineup is a bunch of bands and friends from the punk rock community coming together to help one of our own. It’s gonna be a great night for a great human.”

An iconic member of T.S.O.L., or True Sounds of Liberty, Roche has influenced the music scene since the band got started in 1978. For decades, he provided the driving, melodic, and aggressive basslines that defined the band’s classic 1980s era and records like Change Today? He also helped shape the early hardcore punk and deathrock subgenres, inspiring generations of later musicians. His signature Rickenbacker bass is now displayed at The Punk Rock Museum.

“Without T.S.O.L., there would be no Offspring,” Kevin John Wasserman, also known as Noodles, the lead guitarist and backing vocalist for The Offspring, said. “Mike Roche’s bass playing is a huge part of the reason why. His style is just so badass and cool.”

He added, “Over the years, we went from fans of his to friends. So when we heard he needed our help, we jumped at the chance to pitch in.”

Tickets for the show go on sale this Friday, Sept. 18, at 9 a.m. PT via gardenamp.com.
