Planning a Walt Disney World vacation can sometimes feel like an attraction in itself. There are dozens of hotels to compare, ticket options to decipher, transportation logistics to consider and, of course, the eternal question: When can you actually go without spending a small fortune?
Disney thinks artificial intelligence might be able to help.
Walt Disney World is preparing to beta test a new vacation-planning experience that combines traditional booking tools with AI-powered features designed to help guests find and compare vacation options based on what actually matters to them. The technology was developed with Google Cloud, and the initial beta will be available to a limited number of randomly selected guests in the United States and Canada before potentially expanding in phases.
Translation: Instead of clicking through resort after resort trying to figure out which one checks all your boxes, you may soon be able to simply tell Disney what you’re looking for.

How Disney World’s New AI Vacation Planner Works
Say you’re traveling with a 7-year-old who loves The Lion King, you want a great pool and you’d prefer easy transportation to the parks. Guests will be able to enter those kinds of details conversationally, and the AI can use them to suggest resorts that fit.
During one demonstration, that exact scenario resulted in a recommendation for Disney’s Art of Animation Resort and its Lion King Family Suites.
@parksportsandparadiseco? Room tour: The Lion King Family Suite at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort! If you’re traveling with a bigger family or just want a little extra room to spread out, these suites are SO spacious! ?✨ The Lion King Family Suites sleep up to 6 adults and include: ✨ 1 Queen Bed ✨ 1 Double-Size Sleeper Sofa ✨ 1 Double-Size Pull-Down Bed Plus, you get separate sleeping and living spaces, two bathrooms, and a kitchenette — which can make a huge difference when you have the whole family along! ? Would your family stay in a Lion King suite? ?? #ArtOfAnimation #LionKingSuite #DisneyWorldResort #DisneyResorts #DisneyWorldHotels

Disney is working with Google Cloud on the AI technology, but Disney’s own data underpins the responses.
And the AI isn’t the only interesting part.
Guests will also be able to search for a trip by specific dates or across broader windows, making it easier to spot dates with better rates. A new map view will display resort locations and pricing, while the system can surface eligible offers and re-check pricing during the booking process. Travelers can compare resorts, save options and share vacation ideas with family and friends.
For anyone who’s ever opened approximately 37 browser tabs trying to compare Disney hotels, that last part alone sounds promising.

But Should You Let AI Plan Your Disney Vacation?
The convenience may be appealing, but not everyone is ready to hand over their Mickey ears to AI just yet.
But the convenience also raises a question: Should travelers rely on an AI tool created by the same company selling them the vacation? @HappilyEverAbbyy, a Disney vacation specialist with Friend Like Me Travel, cautions that an AI recommendation may not account for the nuances that can make or break a family vacation.
“Disney has goals. They need to fill resorts and parks,” she wrote in response to the news, arguing that travelers should be cautious about relying solely on an AI tool created by the company selling the vacation.
That distinction is worth keeping in mind: The new tool is designed to recommend and ultimately help guests book Disney vacations, rather than provide independent travel advice.
View this post on InstagramOf course, there’s still plenty the beta can’t do. It won’t make dining reservations or Lightning Lane selections, and Disney has made clear that its existing planning tools, Call Center and travel advisors, aren’t going anywhere.
That may make the new feature less of a replacement for human trip planning and more of another tool in the Disney-planning arsenal. It could be particularly useful for narrowing down dozens of resort options or spotting better-value dates, while travelers who want personalized advice about everything from room locations to restaurant reservations may still prefer a real person who knows the parks—and their family.
